Continuing to advance its strategy of international integration and specialized ophthalmology development, on June 22, 2026, Hong Ngoc General Hospital officially established a professional partnership with L V Prasad Eye Institute in India, one of the world’s leading training centers for corneal specialists, performing more than 50,000 corneal transplants each year.
Under the memorandum of understanding, the two hospitals have committed to comprehensive cooperation in training high-quality medical personnel, transferring specialized techniques, exchanging professional expertise, and conducting remote consultations for complex cases. By leveraging each side’s strengths in clinical experience accumulated through tens of thousands of cases each year and technology-driven solutions in treatment, the partnership is expected to help narrow the access gap between domestic patients and advanced global standards in ophthalmic care.
The program focuses on key areas such as corneal transplantation and the development of a tissue bank to optimize the quality of donor tissues and increase opportunities to preserve vision in patients with severe corneal damage. In addition, the two hospitals will expand cooperation in myopia control, strabismus treatment, amblyopia management, and contact lenses, with the aim of updating modern intervention trends and improving the quality of vision care for different patient groups.
As a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for the Prevention of Blindness, L V Prasad Eye Institute in India is internationally recognized for its capacity in healthcare workforce training, research achievements, and the development of multiple specialized ophthalmic techniques.
Meanwhile, Hong Ngoc General Hospital has continued to affirm its position in the treatment of complex corneal diseases, exemplified by its certification as the first unit in Vietnam to perform laser-assisted corneal transplantation using the Femto LDV Z8 system from Ziemer Group in Switzerland. Notably, Dr. Dinh Thi Hoang Anh, PhD, Head of the hospital’s Department of Ophthalmology, currently holds 10 patents in corneal and pupil surgery recognized by the Ministry of Health and the Government of Russia, with global validity.
The partnership between the two hospitals is expected to bring practical benefits to patients. In particular, the development of specialized diagnostic services such as ophthalmic pathology and ocular microbiology will enable physicians to identify the root causes of lesions at the tissue and cellular levels. This, in turn, will support the development of comprehensive personalized treatment protocols designed to ensure safety and reduce the risk of complications after corneal transplantation.
