On June 12, 2026, Hong Ngoc Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital welcomed a delegation of experts from Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (Taiwan) for a working session to discuss bilateral cooperation.

Taiwan’s Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital is one of Asia’s leading medical centers, renowned for oncology treatment, cochlear implantation, organ transplantation, and advanced specialized techniques. With a capacity of nearly 4,000 beds, the hospital boasts state-of-the-art equipment and a highly experienced team of experts. It is also an internationally reputable institution for medical training, research, and technology transfer.

Within the framework of the program, specialists from both hospitals in oncology, proton therapy, otolaryngology (ENT), and head and neck surgery engaged in extensive professional exchanges. They shared clinical experiences, updated advanced treatment techniques, and discussed future cooperation in medical training, research, and technology transfer.

1. Hospital tour and sharing of Departmental Organization Models

The delegation visited and worked at several key departments, including the Department of Otolaryngology (ENT) & Head and Neck Surgery, the Oncology Center, and the Inpatient Oncology Unit. Both sides exchanged insights on hospital operations, interdisciplinary coordination, and development strategies aligned with modern standards.

2. In-Depth exchange on cochlear implantation techniques

The working session welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kai Chieh Chan, a leading cochlear implant specialist from Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (Taiwan). Dr. Chan has made outstanding contributions to the research and application of advanced hearing restoration techniques, earning high esteem from the international medical community."

Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa Hong (M.D., Specialist Level II, Resident Physician), Vice Head of the Department of Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery, assessed: "The session provided a comprehensive discussion on cochlear implantation for patients with severe-to-profound hearing loss. It covered everything from pre-intervention indication assessments and selecting the optimal timing for surgery, to techniques for preserving cochlear structures and optimizing electrode placement to maximize sound perception and facilitate early patient recovery."

3. Inter-Hospital joint consultations on complex cases

The consultation session featured Dr. Yap Wing Keen, an expert in Radiation Oncology and Proton Therapy from the Proton and Radiation Therapy Center at Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (Taiwan). Dr. Yap brings years of extensive experience in treating complex cancers, particularly head and neck malignancies, with numerous research papers published in international medical journals.

Chaired by Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong, M.D., Ph.D., Head of the Oncology Department at Hong Ngoc Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital, experts from both nations conducted joint consultations on typical cases, including metastatic breast cancer, sigmoid colon cancer, and ovarian cancer. Through these discussions, they established comprehensive multimodal treatment strategies and individualized protocols for each patient to optimize therapeutic efficacy and enhance quality of life."
